Minister-President of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia

Hendrik Wüst

Since 27 October 2021, Hendrik Wüst is the 12th Minister-President of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. On 28 June 2022, he was re-elected and sworn in as Minister-President by the members of the state parliament.

Minister President of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia

In the west of Germany, in the heart of Europe — this is where we live, where North Rhine-Westphalia is situated. In a state that is Number One in many respects: With 18 million, we are the most populous of German states, and the Rhine-Ruhr region is home to the largest concentration of universities in Europe. With a multitude of highly innovative companies, North Rhine-Westphalia accounts for nearly a fifth of Germany's total economic output. Urban and rural areas, industry and nature, technology and tradition — it is the great diversity that makes our home state so attractive.

As Minister-President, I am always keen to listen to the people in our state and tackle the challenges that lie ahead — together and for each other. Good politics is about making the right decisions, treating each other with respect, understanding each other and taking each other seriously.

I am one of 18 million people who work every day to make North Rhine-Westphalia an even better place to live. I want to move our state forward: by reconciling climate action, industry and quality jobs, by promoting the transition to sustainable transport, the digital revolution as well as law and order — and especially by providing good educational opportunities for all.
